Job Description
The Project Engineer - Nashville will be responsible for assisting in the management of project estimates and preconstruction planning, including contacting subcontractors, quantity surveys, proposal analysis, submitting RFI’s, and tracking Preconstruction activities in ProCore. May have primary responsibility for specific trades or aspects of construction (for example, drywall/carpentry subcontract analysis, managing document control, preparing estimates for performing portions of the work, and updating the project schedule.

Accurately manage estimating tasks and contribute to the preconstruction process leading to the award of new work. Expected to use the following software:  Microsoft Project, Excel, ProCore, iSQFT, On-Screen Takeoff.

As Project Engineer - Nashville, you will:
  • Contact potential bidders using iSQFT with follow up by telephone/virtual meetings to maintain up to date lists of the prospective bidders in each trade.
  • Create and maintain revisions log of bid documents to ensure bidders have the most updated drawings and specifications.
  • Work with the Chicago Estimating Team to assist them to obtain bids from qualified Nashville Subcontractors.
  • Coordinate work with the SPM, PPM, and Estimators to be sure there is adequate bid coverage.
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams as projects are turned over from preconstruction.
  • Ensure high quality of work is performed on projects.
  • Always communicate externally and internally in a clear, effective manner.

To be successful in this position, you will:
  • 4-year degree (engineering or construction management preferred) plus one or more years’ experience/knowledge of construction, construction engineering or similar experience required. 
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of computer software products.
  • Must be a business-oriented person.
