Position Summary

This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of Adult Education student support and their transition to college programs, ensuring success in their courses, and with their college and career goals. Student support and transition services include recruitment into the transition programs, such as Bridge and Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System (ICAPS), and providing information, advice, or referrals about career pathways and transition programs, MCC’s various academic programs and student support services, and external community services.  

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement marketing and recruitment activities, and work with Office of Marketing and Public Relations to produce materials to increase enrollment in transition programs, such as Pre-Bridge, Bridge, and ICAPS programs.
  • Collect and analyze student data on educational and career goals to identify students needing advice for transition to college programs.
  • Works with students in advance and transition English as a Second Language (ESL), and with Adult Secondary Education (ASE) students to develop their college and career plan and ensure their success in making level gains and earning their HSE.
  • Provide transition program information, orientation, and presentations to adult education students at the College and at community outreach events.
  • Work with the Coordinator of Operations and Compliance to schedule classes for Pre-Bridge, Bridge, ICAPS, and other transition programs each semester.
  • Work with the Coordinator of Operations and Compliance to track and report on the enrollment, retention, and success of students in transition programs.
  • Coordinate and plan professional development activities for faculty on ICAPS team-teaching and best practices in adult education transition program andragogy.
  • Assist in orientation, training, and assigning faculty to transition classes each semester.
  • Assist the Coordinator of Adult Education Curriculum and Instruction to identify and plan for the curricular development of career and technical education programs for Bridge and ICAPS.
  • Provides support to adult education students enrolled in ICAPS and transfer programs to navigate the College’s enrollment services, including financial aid, academic and student support services, and the academic divisions.
  • Work collaboratively with the Enrollment Services, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Career Services and other offices to ensure a smooth system to provide services to adult education students who transition to college and the workforce.
  • Provide support to Bridge and ICAPS faculty in collaborating with the credit faculty for lesson planning, supporting the needs of adult education students, and addressing faculty, student, or curricular issues during the semester.
  • Provide support services to students enrolled in Bridge and ICAPS to ensure their success by making referrals to appropriate College resources.
  • Coordinate and plan the Adult Education Recognition event to celebrate the accomplishment of student earning their GED and those that made educational level gains.
  • Coordinate GED student graduation with College commencement planning committee
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Adult Education department’s recruitment activities, programs, and services.
  • Assist with providing data for state and federal grant reporting.
  • Assist with grant applications related to transition to college and career programs.
  • Work collaboratively with others (e.g., colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities.
  • Provide, as needed, assistance with commencement-related activities.
  • Use established systems for tracking prospective students, student enrollment, and obtaining reliable commitments from returning students
  • Continually evaluate and suggest methods to streamline enrollment processes
  • Seek out and develop new adult and underrepresented student markets
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Experience in customer service, student recruitment, or student retention
