Midwest Generation is one of the largest independent power producers in the United States, producing enough electricity to meet the needs of more than 8 million households.

Headquartered in downtown Chicago, Midwest Generation is a subsidiary of Edison Mission Energy (EME) and part of the Edison International family of companies, which is based in Rosemead, California.

Primarily in the business of generating electricity for sale in the competitive wholesale market, the company owns and operates six electric power generating facilities in Illinois and also supervises operation of a plant in western Pennsylvania. These facilities can generate 7,500 megawatts of electricity and have about 1,300 employees.

Environmental Commitment
Midwest Generation firmly believes that environmental responsibility and sound business practices can and must co-exist within our operations. The company has spent more than half-a-billion dollars in environmental, safety and operational improvements in Illinois and Pennsylvania over the past five years.

Our projects have significantly reduced emissions created by the burning of coal. Nitrogen oxide emissions (which can contribute to the formation of smog) have been cut by more than half. We also have significantly reduced emissions of sulfur dioxides (a contributor to acid rain) and particulate matter.
