First marketed under the name of Mrs. Japp's Potato Chips, the name was changed to Jays Potato Chips in the early 1940's. The company has operated for over 70 years with a consistent focus on quality and service both in their products and in the workplace. In 1986, the company was sold to Borden, Inc. In 1994, the current management team repurchased the company. Jays belief in quality and service quickly returned to the production and sales organization, new products were added and Jays Foods has again become the strongest regional snack company in our marketing area. What We Do Jays Foods is a full-line snack company that manufactures, markets and distributes snack food products in the seven state area of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri. Headquartered in Chicago, Jays has distribution centers in fifteen major cities located throughout our seven state marketing area. Jays Foods operates one of the most effective Direct Store Delivery (DSD) route sales systems in the Midwest. We have over 400 company-owned routes operated by dedicated sales representatives in a union-free environment. Each sales representative has the opportunity to manage their sales territory as though it is their own business. We carry the focus on quality all the way from manufacturing our products to providing service to our customers that they expect at a level above that of our competition. Each sales representative has assigned customers that are serviced at least once each week and as often as every day. |
