Endeavor Health Medical Group (NorthShore), the principal academic affiliate of The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, is currently seeking a full-time, dynamic, team-oriented Palliative Care physician to join the Department of Medicine. The successful candidate for this position will be board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

The selected candidate will be joining a collegial team of four physicians that are board certified in Hospital and Palliative Medicine with specialties in geriatrics, oncology and hospital medicine, as well as nine APNs with diverse backgrounds and a social worker. Responsibilities including inpatient palliative care and inpatient hospice, palliative care clinics embedded in our oncology departments, home-based palliative care and hospice medical director responsibilities. The incumbent will also be responsible for teaching our residents and palliative care fellows, as well as learners from other programs who are interested in palliative medicine. The role includes opportunities for participation in committees as well as leadership development. As the principal academic affiliate of the Pritzker School of Medicine at The University of Chicago, academic appointment is available to qualified candidates.

Our Endeavor Health's Palliative Care Service supports patients at any stage of a life-threatening illness and offers a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. Our Palliative Care specialists are available at the request of attending physicians to assist in coordinating and managing palliative care and hospice patients. The hospital system is extremely supportive of our service to patients in the hospital as well as in our community. A system focus on quality improvement and outcomes allows us to continue to grow and expand our program.

What you will do:

  • Inpatient palliative care consultant service and inpatient hospice
  • Opportunity for outpatient clinic and home-based palliative care
  • Opportunity to be a hospice medical director for our hospice affiliate
  • Participation in weeknight and weekend call, prorated on your FTE status
  • Teaching of residents and palliative care fellows

Experience and Qualifications

  • Board certified in your primary specialty
  • BE/BC for the ABIM Hospice and Palliative Medicine certification exam
  • DEA license
