Position Summary - Primary Purpose of the Role

This position supports the Global Derivatives team by driving business research and analysis initiatives, presenting findings to leadership, and evangelizing our repeatable, scalable, and transferable analysis framework. This position reports to the Sr. Director - Global Derivatives Business Strategy.

Location: NYC or Chicago (flex hybrid)

Major Job Duties:

  • Drive research and analysis of complex subject matter, including - but not limited to: financial derivative ecosystems, competitive landscapes, emerging technologies, industry trends, and client/global expansion.
  • Draft and maintain artifacts (documents, confluence pages, presentation, etc.) detailing research insights.
  • Guide teams through critical thinking exercises that deconstruct complex problems, solve for core considerations, and provide actionable next steps.
  • Work with Global Derivatives leadership to facilitate and align on long-term strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a research repository/library.
  • Assist on ad hoc projects, presentations, and other tasks upon request.

Education/Experience/Training/Skills:

Required:

  • A solid foundation in financial markets, including (but not limited to) an understanding of financial derivatives, trading, market data, exchanges, and financial technology.
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical or business discipline, Master's Degree in technical or business discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong research and analysis skills, including the ability to synthesize unrelated data sources to generate (and test) novel hypotheses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including both persuasive and technical writing.
  • Unquenchable curiosity paired with a desire to research and communicate interesting ideas.
  • Imaginative problem solving without fear of debate or challenge.
  • Passion for self-directed learning, critical thinking, and game theory.
  • Proven PC skills within the work environment that include frequent use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, inquisitive, and capable of completing independent projects and team assignments.
  • Ability to prioritize work to meet objectives of multiple ongoing projects, and identify, communicate, and strategize regarding actual or perceived challenges to successful execution.

Work Experience:

3-6 years of experience, preferably in financial services.

As required by the New York City Human Rights Law, Cboe provides a reasonable range of minimum base salary for roles that may be performed in New York City. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, level of experience, etc. For New York City only, the range of starting base salary for this role is $96,000-$158,000. Additional incentive compensation and benefits may be available.
