Job Accountabilities

Crown CAPP Division USA - Aurora plant is seeking a Department Supervisor. As a key member of the operations team, the Department Supervisor must have the ability to lead a team with focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement through our manufacturing process. This is a salaried position in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment where compliance to all safety policies, procedures and regulations is our way of doing business. Day to day responsibilities will include the following:

  • Hands-on supervisor to lead continuous improvement of our manufacturing process
  • This individual will enforce and practice Crown safety policies and actively participate in safety related activities
  • Watches for the safety of others and corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions.
  • Drives quality in all aspects of the job
  • Review, analyze and act to correct non-conformance in the areas of Safety, Quality policies and procedures, involve in Continuous process improvement
  • Lead, coach and support line process teams in their efforts to improve safety, quality and Lean initiatives
  • Take leadership initiative to involve and sustain the 6S, SMED, TPM, Spoilage reduction and Line performance in SPM
  • Review scheduling process to meet production requirements
  • Maintain time and attendance records and monitor staffing levels to meet the daily work requirements
  • Provide leadership for employees, coach to develop skills and hold them accountable to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Provides feedback to employees on job performance through verbal communication and formal performance appraisals
  • Inspects equipment to assure optimum safety, utilization and quality
  • Communicate with employees concerning safety, staffing needs, scheduling, problem solving, overtime, vacations and training
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements

Requirements include:

  • Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.
  • Strong organization, time management and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines and be a team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs
  • Working experience in Lean Manufacturing methodology and hands-on Engineering process improvement is preferred

Physical Requirements & Working conditions:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and maybe be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Generally works in an office and/or plant environment.
  • The employee may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • The employee may be exposed to loud machinery.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (2 yr) or equivalent experience in plant facility
  • Three years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Good communication and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to assist with projects, maintenance, sample orders, etc.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime hours must be available to work any shift.
