Job Overview

The District Manager is directly responsible for the whole goods sale of Komatsu product to the distributor network. Directly involved with the distributor in the development of market share and units sales goals through the Joint Marketing Plan process and assists with the achievement of those goals through direct involvement with the distributor's daily sales and marketing efforts. Consults with the distributor in the development of the Annual Distributor Business Plan and is the main liaison between Komatsu and the distributor.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • The District Manager is responsible for one to five distributors in a geographic area covering one to five States.
  • Responsible for the continued growth and development of construction, mining and national or regional account customers, building strong relationships for achievement of increased sales and profitability.
  • Required to manage special assistance discounting funds as well as special policy dollars in excess of $250,000.
  • Also assists the distributor in solving problems with Komatsu credit, parts, and service when normal avenues for resolution have been exhausted.
  • The District Manager manages annual travel expenditures in excess of $25,000.
  • Must be able to apply the Komatsu Way principles where applicable in their everyday work activities.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Four year college degree, preferably in Business Management or Marketing. Advanced formal education andmechanical/technical aptitude preferred.
  • Construction industry work experience with a full-line manufacturer. Minimum of 6-8 years of experience.
  • Distributor operations experience as a full-line manufacturer representative in Sales, Parts, and Service. Minimum of 2years of experience.
  • Management skills acquired through college education and/or work experience.
  • Proven ability in Marketing concepts and techniques: SWOT analysis, "4 Ps" (Product, Place, Price, Promotion), salesprocess management, marketing program development, etc.
  • Analytical/Statistical analysis capacity for reviewing sales trends and inventory performance.
  • Basic financial analysis capacity to understand Ratios, ROI, P&L statements, etc.
  • Negotiating skills, typically acquired through seminars and/or work experience.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, IMMAPs, and extranet related items.Salesforce knowledge is a plus.
  • Basic KAC product knowledge on machine configurations and applications acquired through internal KAC trainingand/or work experience.
  • Knowledge of mine operations, as well as a basic understanding of field application engineering, in order to perform asa consultant to improve customer efficiencies. Must have the ability to assimilate and utilize technical productknowledge.
  • Must be willing to travel overnight up to 80% of the time. Some weekend travel required.
Additional Information
  • Participation in company sponsored shows/events is required on a "as needed basis". Examples of such shows are: Cartersvillehosted events, Demo days, Con-Expo., etc. This participation in such shows includes, but is not limited to: Answering questionsregarding Komatsu products, operational procedures of Komatsu machines, show preparation/maintenance/take down (clean up).
  • Other duties as required by the company.
  • May consider other home office locations if within the assigned distributor territory.
