Position Purpose:

This position will create and lead successful content, programming, and distribution strategies, in a 365-day journey and holistic view, both financially and programmatically. Provides strong leadership and guidance to staff direct reports resulting in a cohesive group committed to, and with the competency to, achieve annual and long-term goals.

As the Senior Director, Content & Distribution Strategy, you will work with the team to build and develop content libraries and programming catalogs, understanding of industry needs, and target segments and markets. With these elements in hand, build and drive a growth-oriented distribution plan and strategy across multiple channels and alliance partnerships.

Essential Functions:

    Create and drives HIMSS global content and programming strategy. Identify new and innovative distribution channels and partnerships to reach a wider audience as well as continue to engage and grow current events portfolio and attendee counts.
  • Identify, negotiate, establish, and maintain non-profit and industry partnerships to enhance content and programming offerings and extend audience reach through broader distribution channels.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis that ensures programming strategy aligns to target current and emerging segment, discipline, and regional market needs to achieve HIMSS goals.
  • Deep understanding of the competitive landscape, leveraging competitive insight to adjust programming and distribution decisions.
  • Establishes and nurtures strong, collaborative relationships within HIMSS and with external partners and facilitates organizational collaborations for educational purposes.
  • Drives the strategy roadmap for developing program content and distribution channels for the health information and technology community.
  • Identifies opportunities for the development of new programs that support the mission and vision of HIMSS, to include new channels where HIMSS content is distributed to new global audiences via strategic industry partnerships.
  • Provide guidance to Lead/Producers, develop and facilitate program advisory boards to help drive the direction of the event program and/or global programming strategy.
  • Provides guidance to subject matter experts, content developers and content editors related to topic selection, content planning, instructional design, development and implementation of educational activities.
  • Leads the creation of new products, special programs, content formats, or influence/guide revenue-generating teams to impact P&L performance and ensure achievement of revenue and contribution goals.
  • Nurtures and grows the partnership and distribution channels with Informa Markets leadership to ensure content and programs are aligned for a successful and impactful global conference and beyond.
  • Provide marketing and brand positioning for portfolio, providing guidance and strategy to marketing colleagues continually in product lifecycle.
  • Partners with Media, Marketing, Communications, Social Media and Web to ensure effective program promotion; and manages the development and completion of program elements within related timelines.
  • Directs and measures the progress of programs, to accomplish goals and objectives as defined in the strategic plan and budget.
  • Provide ongoing communication on the programming and distribution progress to key executive stakeholders
  • All duties as assigned to achieve HIMSS goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned that contribute to the effectiveness of the department and to accomplish strategic goals and objectives.

What you will need to be successful:
  • A Bachelors' Degree in Education, Business, Communications or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in building networks and content distribution strategies across in-person, virtual, and other engagement methodologies.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience working in a health information and technology environment, association environment, or other technical environment. Has a comprehensive knowledge of health IT, reflecting an understanding of historic, current and future trends in the field as well as the ability to apply that knowledge in the development of future programs.
  • A minimum of seven (7) or more years of successful supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in healthcare information and management systems, a plus
  • Exceptional collaborative skills necessary to thrive in a highly-matrixed organization
  • Demonstrates strong competency in project management in regards to multiple and complex projects and process improvement methodology.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage professional level staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
