Job Summary:

Working under the director of the Manager Quality Assurance and Training, this position assists both the Manager and the Assistant Manager Quality Assurance and Training with the administration and implementation of CCM's training and quality assurance programs.

The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and provide training to investigators and research staff through training sessions, maintain adequate training and testing supplies, and ensure that CCM is in compliance with CCM standard operating procedures and all federal, state and local guidelines.

Specific Responsibilities:

Assists with the administration and implementation of CCM's training programs.

  • Prepare and conduct orientation programs and training sessions for new research staff including but not limited to: hands-on courses, species specific courses, facility entry procedures, and non-human primate orientation, etc.
  • Prepare and conduct orientation programs and training sessions for new CCM staff including but not limited to: hands-on courses, species specific courses, facility entry procedures, and non-human primate orientation, etc.
  • Provide on-the-job training to Husbandry Staff based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, guidelines and forms. Assess the competency of Husbandry Staff through continued observation and assessment of compliance with SOPs, policies, guidelines and forms.
  • Acts as backup for assigning and updating facility access information
  • Assist with the administration and training of AALAS certification classes.
  • Assist with the administration and implementation of CCM's Staff Continuing Education Program, i.e. Monthly Animal Care All Staff Training and weekly staff meetings as needed.
  • Assists with the administration and implementation of CCM's Quality Assurance Program

Assist with the writing and development of SOPs, policies, guidelines and forms relevant to the CCM training program.

  • Develop and provide oversight to Husbandry Technical Trainer. Develop, implement and administer new training documents and resources.
  • Document training of CCM Husbandry Staff and research personnel.
  • Conducts water quality testing and record keeping
  • Assists with Medical Records and DVMAX training.
  • Assists with Controlled Substances program
  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of the CCM Employee Recognition program.
  • Assess the competency of research personnel with compliance of CCM and IACUC SOPs, policies, guidelines and forms.

Supports the Occupational Health Program and Safety Training to ensure compliance with CCM policies and Federal, State and local regulatory agency requirements.

  • Assists with Occupational Health program.
  • Responsible for TB test scheduling and record maintenance

Animal Colony and Inventory Maintenance for Training and Water Testing Supplies

  • Order and maintain inventory as it relates to training supplies and water quality testing materials.
  • Oversee training animal colony (e.g., rats/rabbits)
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • Associate's Degree in science related field or equivalent course work.
  • American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) certification at the LAT level
  • 3 years' experience working in a teaching/training environment or quality assurance environment.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • Bachelor's Degree in science related field or equivalent course work.
  • American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) certification at the LATG level
  • Greater than 5 years' experience working in a teaching/training environment or quality assurance environment.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $28.00 to $37.00 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
