Salary/Grade: NEX/7

Target pay for this position will be $19.25 per hour.

Job Summary:

Performs activities related to the receipt, replenishment, picking, cycle counting, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of parts and materials to internal Northwestern University customers. Accurately records activities in a timely manner to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions. The Warehouse Associate follows all safety precautions when operating a hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, or other material handling equipment as necessary to perform job duties.

The incumbent will strive to provide excellent service when performing job responsibilities and will practice safe work procedures and follow safety rules at all times.

Please note: Ability to work outside on an occasional basis. Willingness and ability to work from warehouse locations on Evanston and Chicago campuses.

Specific Responsibilities:

Fulfills Requests

  • Accurately and efficiently picks and fills technician requests;
  • Performs data entry; Issues parts and materials to work tasks;
  • Communicates status to technician; Ensures all requests are fulfilled and available for pick-up in a timely manner;

Issues and Receives Orders

  • Unloads parts and materials on a daily basis;
  • Performs quality assurance measures to verify contents of order;
  • Replenishes inventory levels;
  • Performs data entry; Receives and issues parts in Onbase and/or Facilities Connect;
  • Prepares orders for pick-up;
  • Completes all data entry in a timely manner to ensure activities are captured during monthly job cost and other financial reporting;

Processes Returns

  • Packages and prepares parts and materials for shipment as necessary;

Cycle counting

  • Routinely counts and records inventory to ensure levels accurately reflect availability of stock;
  • Ensures all indoor warehouse spaces and outside storage areas are organized and free of hazards; immediately reports all safety concerns to warehouse manager;

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license recognized by the State of Illinois

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. on a regular and consistent basis;
  • Ability to operate standard warehouse equipment;
  • Ability to climb stairs;
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Time Management - Strong ability to organize and manage multiple priorities;
  • Flexibility - Ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating and fast paced work environment;
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; specifically Microsoft Excel;
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year experience in a warehouse setting ;preferred two or more year
  • Forklift Operator's certification;

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Ability to identify basic hand tools and maintenance parts and supplies;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Completion of one or more postsecondary college courses
