Position Description
UOP, a Honeywell Company, is an international supplier of process technology, products, engineered systems and technical services to the petroleum refining, petrochemical, gas processing and energy industries and is a leader in the research and development of petroleum and petrochemical processing. We have immediate openings for Senior Service Specialists in Aromatics, Separations, CCR Platforming, Isomerization, Petrochemicals (Oleflex, MTO/OCP), Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Hydrocracking {Unicracking) / Hydroprocessing, Gas Processing, Pressure Swing Adsorption, Treating & Black Oil technologies in the Operating Technical Services Department within UOP's Process Technology and Equipment business.
These positions play a key role in completing the transfer of UOP technology and to keep customers' UOP-licensed or UOP-designed units operating safely & profitably. There is regular interaction with UOP's external customers and with UOP personnel.
Fixed Accountabilities:
• Participate in breakthrough R&D delivery and technology improvement projects, bringing commercial perspectives and key data to the team.
• Champion changes & improvements in technologies supported via innovation [MOIs].
• Provide sales support; including technical & commercial perspective, recommendations on guarantees, startup & commercial operating experience.
• Serve as focal point for office-based support, working with customers to rectify issues. Provide office-based and on-site troubleshooting assistance to commercial units & conduct commercial unit audits.
• Lead guarantee resolution projects. Lead investigation efforts & develop solutions. Work with UOP departments & licensees to deliver corrective measures.
• Participate in customer meetings. - Participate in Engineering review meetings for new units & revamps including Design Basis, PFD, P&ID, MFD, Plot Plans, HAZOP, and Model Reviews. Bring operational & safety considerations into design to ensure reliable performance.
• Review, analyze & provide feedback on commercial operating data.
• Proactive mentoring, training and initiation of technical forums
• Keep current with customer needs for technologies supported, communicate changes, and incorporate changes into appropriate documents.
• Develop, prepare, update & present training materials for UOP technology training courses
• Develop, prepare & update training and process technology manuals.
Relative Accountabilities:
• Author MOIs for processes in area of responsibility.
• Become Six Sigma green/black belt.
• Prepare material and participate in Technical Symposia and Sales Meetings.
• Ensure that Engineering Design Critique Reports are reviewed, and design and technical modifications incorporated.
Basic Qualifications:
• BS degree in an engineering discipline, Chemical Engineering preferred
• 10+ years experience, including a minimum of 3 years of UOP Technical Service, UOP Engineering or equivalent industry process operations, technical service or design experience.
• Experience in one or more of UOP’s technologies listed is desired.
Additional Qualifications:
• Demonstrated communication & interpersonal skills; Comprehensive problem solving skills; Effective presentation skills; MSOffice computer skills (Access or Hysys a plus); Organization skills; Ability to work independently; Ability to multi-task;
• Knowledge of one or more of the technologies listed including their equipment and operations.
• Unique Aspects of the Position (Travel, Overseas, Overtime, Work hours, etc.)
• Travel of 20% required to domestic and international sites; 50 -75% of travel can be scheduled/planned in advance.- Physical inspection requiring climbing, crawling through & working on pressure vessels, distillation columns, is part of the job.
