Position Description

Position Summary: Assists in managing and directing the clinical services of the center and collaborates with the Director of Nursing/Clinic Manager in helping to plan, develop and evaluate the services.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Use separate sheet if necessary)

1. Provides on-site day-to-day clinical supervision of staff in OB/Gyne, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and the Lab.
2. Makes frequent rounds in all clinical areas.
3. Assists in determining clinical staffing patterns and coordinates staffing patterns which include.
• Completely monthly assignment for all areas;
• Making daily nursing assignments based upon clinical needs;
• Authorizing sick, lunch and overtime, as needed; and
• Delegates assignments, as needed.
4. Evaluates employee performance, salary adjustments, transfers and termination’s.
5. Meets with the Director of Nursing/Clinic Manager, medical and nursing staff, as well as, other related departments in planning services, programs and patient flow activities.
6. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with clinical personnel to assure accurate documentation or relevant issues for communications with Director of Nursing/Clinic Manager so that clinical services can be properly delivered to meet the needs of the patient.
7. Develops and participates in programs from in-service education to orientation classes for newly assigned department personnel.
8. Assists in developing, implementing and coordinating clinical policies & procedures, nursing procedures manuals, job descriptions, etc.
9. Participates in chart audits.
10. Serves on Quality Improvement Committee.
11. Assures that clinical personnel, patients and visitors follow established policies and procedures at all times.
12. Must maintain current CPR certification.
13. Authorizes alternative transportation arrangements for patients when necessary.
14. Responsible for the Cook County Neighborhood Referral system and for assuring all referrals are documented.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Routinely checks equipment to insure proper functioning.
2. Maintains and promotes customer relations standards.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing (RN) with minimum of 4 years in an ambulatory care setting.

Required Licensure and/or Certification: Current License in the State of Illinois

Minimum Experience: Organizational ability to plan and direct clinical and activities. Leadership ability and the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel. Ability to work collaboratively with both clinical and administrative personnel to assure that clinical services can be properly delivered to meet the needs of the patient.

Supervision: Supervises Nursing Clinical Staff.

Other Requirements: Saturday hours, evening hours and/or may be required to work at a different site.
