Position Description
Position Summary: Provides direct management oversight for the health center operations, the clinical support staff and the registration staff. Works with a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses and other non-physician caregivers to maintain an environment that is responsive to patient needs, encourages customer service and promotes employee and patient satisfaction. Oversees the health center patient flow process. Collaborates with the Director of General Academic Pediatrics to ensure smooth residency training program processes. Works directly with the Medical Director and Director of Nursing to plan, develop and evaluate the health care services and promote the NNHSC mission at the health center. Reports directly to the Medical Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages the day-to-day operations of the Health Center and provides supervision and oversight to the clinical support staff in accordance with NNHSC policies and procedures.
2. Maintains the health centers’ scheduling templates according to established clinical standards, including the authorization overtime.
3. Evaluates clinical staff performance, including selections, orientation, performance evaluation, disciplinary action and/or termination.
4. Collaborates and meets with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Director of General Academic Pediatrics, and medical/ clinical staff as well as, other related departments in planning services, programs and patient flow activities.
5. Develops and maintains a good working relationship with clinical and Medical staff, to ensure smooth patient flow, high quality health care, accurate and timely medical record documentation.
6. Develops and participates in programs from in-service education to orientation classes for newly assigned department personnel, in order to implement changes in the work environment and comply with regulator standards.
7. Assists in developing, implementing and coordinating clinical policies and procedures, nursing procedures manuals, job descriptions, etc.
8. Assures that clinical personnel, patients and visitors follow established policies and procedures at all times.
9. Maintains patient volume statistics at the health center. Authorizes labs or alternative transportation arrangements for patients when necessary.
10. Works with the Stroger/Cook County Neighborhood Referral system, as appropriate for patient service.
11. Participates and contributes to NNHSC’s Quality Improvement Plan. Manages quality improvement activities and customer service initiatives related to clinic operations.
12. Facilitates development and achievement of professional and personal goals for self and staff.
13. Ensures compliance with NNHSC policies and all accreditation and regulatory bodies and their standards. Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards.
14. Ensures employee receives information needed to perform jobs including feedback to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
15. Proactively addresses performance issues when indicated and administers polices, decisions, and disciplinary actions with consistency.
16. Aligns department goals and manages department resources and budgets to meet NNHSC strategic objectives.
17. In collaboration with others, oversees the health center quality and performance improvement process.
18. Works closely with the Manager of Registration to ensure the timely capture of all superbills.
19. Must maintain current CPR accreditation.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Routinely checks equipment to insure proper functioning.
2. Represents NNHSC at community meetings, when necessary.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing (RN) with minimum of 4 years in an ambulatory care setting. MS in Public Health or related field a plus.
Required Licensure and/or Certification: Current RN License in the State of Illinois
Minimum Experience: Organizational ability to plan and direct clinical and personnel activities. Leadership ability and the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel. Ability to work collaboratively with both clinical and administrative personnel to assure that clinical services can be properly delivered to meet the needs of the patient.
Other Requirements: Saturday hours, evening hours and/or may be required to work at a different site.
