Project Summary and Position Overview:

The Thomson Reuters Market Data System (RMDS) integrates, distributes, and adds value to information from and about the markets. This includes real-time and historical prices from data vendors, exchanges, and brokers; real-time and historical news from the press, the web and internal analysts; as well as internal calculations and other forms of proprietary information used to support crucial decisions. The Reuters Foundation API (RFA) team develops cross platform APIs in C and Java that allows clients to publish and consume market data and rich value added content. This can be done thru the RMDS system or directly to Custom Feeds, 3rd Party Applications, or Reuters Direct Exchange Feeds (RDF-D). The candidate will be actively doing software development in C and Java to support the RFA 6.X product line.

Role and Responsibilities

Identifies and analyzes programming requirements.
Responsible for full lifecycle product development; design, develop and tests program code.
Prepares system documentation
Contributes to team results.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

5 years C and/or Java programming experience (knowing both is a plus)
Experience with high-performance systems and multi-threaded application development.
Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IP, Multicast)
Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
Experience with Solaris 8/10, Redhat Linux distributions, and Microsoft Windows Application development.
Familiarity with financial markets, development test tools (e.g., Purify), a plus.
Familiarity with 64-bit or .Net application development is also a plus.
