Job Summary
Apply in-depth knowledge of scientific and engineering principles in resolving technical problems, investigating technologies and developing new products. Make independent decisions on research problems, technology investigations and new or improved product development.

Job Functions
* Suggest innovations, design improvements and cost reductions for existing products.
* Work as a technical leader within a multi-disciplined development team of engineers, designers and technicians on hardware development projects.
* Conduct cross-functional concept and design reviews at key milestones during the project life cycle.
* Provide assistance to the Mechanical Engineering Manager via recommendations on staffing, equipment, and facility requirements to achieve project objectives.
* Ensure compliance of assigned projects with all applicable company and department processes and procedures.
* Maintain proper documentation to substantiate patent applications and provide technical consultation when requested.

Position Requirements

Qualifications Required
Education
* Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience
* Ten or more years progressive experience in an electro-mechanical product development environment with a proven track record of accomplishments.
* Consumer products background a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Strong technologist with a command of electromechanical design methodologies including the production design of major hardware platforms and features, subsystems, sheet metal, plastic, and cast components.
* Concept sketching / modeling ability is required.
* Ability to use one or more 3D solid modeling packages required; Solid Edge or Solid Works preferred.
* A solid understanding of DFA/DFM principles and Mechanical Drafting procedures and standards.
* Above average communication skills, both oral and written.
