Position Description

Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Transportation Supervisor, transports persons enrolled at the Job Training Center in a safe and responsible manner, abiding by the Rules of the Road and Agency policy and procedures.

General Duties:

  • Transports clients in a Training Center vehicle as required by the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Monitors and records operating conditions of vehicle daily, and reports mechanical problems to the Transportation Supervisor immediately.
  • While transporting clients, complies to route, safety and other transportation procedures.
  • Tracks and records client transportation and other information as required.
  • Performs general maintenance on vehicle and fills vehicle gas tank daily, or as required.
  • Maintains a ticket-free driving record that is insurable by the Training Center.
  • Assists the Job Training Center staff in client supervision as needed.
  • Trains and supervises client passengers in the utilization of correct safety procedures during transit.
  • Completes all documentation as required by Agency policy and licensing regulations ensuring all established deadlines are met.
  • Maintains professional conduct and appearance consistent with the expectations of this position when dealing with any Agency or external personnel.
  • Familiar with and adheres to agency mission.
  • Ensures safe work environment for self and others at all times.
  • Familiar with and adheres to agency policies regarding infection control and first aid.
  • Attends inservice training as required.
  • May be required to work hours in excess of those regularly scheduled.
  • Adheres to all Agency and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures a safe work environment for client(s) and staff at all times.
  • Familiar with and adheres to all aspects of the infection control policy and other safety related practices.
  • Familiar with and adheres to the mission of the agency.
Qualification:
  • Skills: Knowledge of streets and transportation routes in southwest Cook County and the Rules of the Road. Must possess valid Illinois driver's license appropriate for operating Training Center vehicles.
  • Experience: Must be 23 years of age and meet PACE requirements.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
