We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Station Environmenal Specialist at our Joliet Station located in Joliet, IL.

Provide technical, administrative and strategic oversight for all Environmental programs by directing these programs to ensure the station is managed is in compliance with all company procedures and applicable federal, state and local regulations.
Essential Functions
Administer station procedures and provide technical guidance to ensure regulatory compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations and associated permits.
Coordinate communication and act as the single point-of-contact with Environmental Services personnel.
Conduct research on various technical and environmental topics and prepare reports or briefings.
Provide technical support to other ES professionals in completing their responsibilities.
Manage implementation of company programs designed to ensure environmental compliance by MWG personnel on related procedures.
Work independently and take initiative under the direction of Station Director and Managing Director of Environmental Services and scientists on various projects relating to air, water and other environmental issues.
Interface with all levels of employees inside and outside the company; provide flexible and proactive approach to work with multiple personnel to complete projects.
Represents station during inspections by government agencies involving areas of incumbent’s responsibility
Manage all aspects of environmental compliance delegated to the station under various laws and regulations including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and the Toxics Substance Control Act,
Provide or arrange training for station personnel as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.. Ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2-5 years experience in the environmental field. Prior experience in power industry beneficial..

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
This position is a combination of work in office and industrial settings. Must be able to wear required personal protection equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, hearing protection, respirators, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE as required. Duties require extensive manual dexterity in usage of computer terminal and keyboard, while sitting for long periods of time preparing budgets, work scopes, outage schedules, and other reports as needed.
May be required to perform equipment inspections by climbing vertical ladders in excess of 20 feet and stairways in excess of 50 feet, using step stool, kneeling, bending, walking over uneven surfaces such as loose rock, open grating, up and down staircases. The compartments where certain equipment may be located may exceed temperatures of 130F. May be required to prepare and conduct training, including mentoring individuals one-on-one. In conducting training, may be required to carry training materials, and to stand for extended periods of time.
Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, and to operate standard office equipment. The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve file information and lifts and carries boxes that typically weigh less than 10 pounds. This position may require some domestic travel.
