Position Reports to: This position will report to the company's Regional Headquarters in Batavia, IL.

Direct Reports: Dependent on projects, may include various numbers of Project Managers, Construction Support Personnel, interns and administrative support.

Position Overview:


The Senior Project Manager at Henkels and McCoy is a strategic position that provides project related management for multiple large utility construction projects with an emphasis on power transmission and distribution projects throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. The position is ultimately accountable for all facets of customer service and customer satisfaction on related projects. In addition, this position is responsible for project success through all phases of the project lifecycle including initiating, planning, executing, controlling and ultimately closing the project profitably. Success on this job will require direct support and oversight to other functional project teams in the planning and execution of the job, including resolving issues, managing resources, project coordination, communicating project progress with clients, oversight of project accounting, training, mentoring and coaching.



Major Job Elements:
  • Manages overall project performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, innovation, cost, and customer satisfaction).
  • Serves as single-point of contact, establishing, maintaining and managing customer, sub contractor and joint venture partner expectations (where applicable) regarding overall project performance.
  • Reports project status and performance data as required to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established Project Management Methodology (PMM).
  • Plans, monitors, and controls the project throughout its lifecycle.
  • Assist in the acquisition of new work through marketing and business development activities as required.
  • At a given time could be involved in any combination of the following:
    • Running a major project from $50 to $100 million or several smaller projects.
    • Mentoring, Training and Teaching others in Henkels and McCoy's Project Management Methodology (PMM).
    • Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of Henkels and McCoy's Project Management Methodology (PMM).
    • Acting as sponsor for large projects.



Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related profession required.
  • 10+ years of relevant (power construction industry) Project Management Experience strongly preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in construction industry Project Management Methodology required.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills required.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including the ability to facilitate meetings, make effective presentations, and write proposals, is required.
  • Demonstrated experience / knowledge of construction operations, power transmission / distribution design, financial acumen and team based management required.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision in a matrix organization.
  • Thorough understanding of utility industry practices, operations, contract administration, contract management, and standards, with emphasis on power utility business required.
  • Proficient understanding of CPM scheduling and software applications (Primavera, MS Project) is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Earned Value and Change Order Management principals.
  • A strong demonstrated commitment to construction safety and quality is required
  • Significant travel will be required as well as the ability to commit to long term on site assignments.
  • Knowledgeable in preparing and maintaining Project Plans.

Work Environment:

  • The position of Senior Project Manager at Henkels and McCoy requires the ability to work in an office setting as well as on active construction sites.
  • This includes but is not limited to significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders, being in high places, working in tight spaces and in general, be overall physically demanding.
