Job Description
The civil estimator will assist in the preparation of subcontractor and self-perform estimates for heavy civil and bridge projects for infrastructure, civil, and railroad projects.

Expectations:
Uphold the core values of the company. Perform thorough and accurate document reviews, quantity take offs, prepare comprehensive scope of work outlines and work plans. Collect, organize and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes. Interface with estimating team to complete assignments in a timely and complete manner.

As civil estimator you will:
  • Perform quantify survey takeoffs.
  • Review RFP specifications, geotechnical reports, and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Assist in developing work plans for self-performed work.
  • Provide bidding direction to subcontractors during bidding process.
  • Develop HCSS activities for assigned scopes of work.
  • Identify cost competitive material sources and obtain quotes.
  • Utilize 3D software and 3D models in estimating to the greatest extent possible.
  • Short term (1 to 2 days) travel to attend prebid meetings may be required.
To be successful in this position, you will need:
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent technical experience.
  • 4 years civil estimating, controls and/or engineering experience related to similar construction.
  • Knowledge of excavation, cast in place concrete, site utilities, pile driving, concrete/asphalt paving and bridge construction is required.
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid or similar program is desired.
  • Training can be provided for HCSS if candidate possesses adequate prior estimating experience.
