Position Summary

The School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) welcomes applications for a Professional Intern for Communication and Outreach. This is a unique opportunity to utilize your communication and social media skills, and work with a dynamic group of faculty and students in the design disciplines of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture.

The Professional Intern for Communication and Outreach will report to the Administrative Coordinator and will work closely with the Dean, Associate Deans, and Department Chairs to develop and implement communication, media and public relations strategies and materials to enhance the profile of the SA+P at local, national and international levels. The Professional Intern for Communication and Outreach will execute a variety of School-wide communication, media and public relations initiatives designed to enhance the School's branding efforts and foster relations with internal and external constituencies including the University at large, professionals in the fields of architecture, planning and landscape architecture, potential students, other design schools, alumni and friends of the School.

The Professional Intern for Communication and Outreach will produce and disseminate SA+P focused information via a variety of media platforms such as news, press releases, social media, and lead the development and execution of e-mail campaigns, online publicity services, and promotional materials; draft and edit publication materials; develop and coordinate website/internet communication resources; work in a collaborative and creative environment. The Professional Intern for Communication and Outreach will promote faculty research agendas and student projects. This position is a full-time (100% FTE), one-year term appointment renewable if funding is available and need exists.

The successful candidate will demonstrate: excellent written and verbal communication skills; enthusiasm for promoting the School's programs and activities; ability to engage with faculty, professionals, and students from a broad range of cultures; as well as an ability to take initiative and present creative communication and outreach strategies.

This is a full-time, one-year term appointment, renewable dependingupon available funding and organizational need, with the possibility ofreclassification to a staff position after 2 years of continuous employment.This is a developmental, fixed term (typically 1-2 years) career-path positionthat is restricted to graduates of accredited university Bachelors or Mastersprograms who have obtained their degrees no earlier than 24 months prior to thedate of hire.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree; no previous work experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with social media resources
Ability to gather information, verify sources, draft and edit text for press release
Ability to update and maintain web site
Ability to develop and implement communication and marketing strategies
Strong graphic design skills
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
