Job Description

Overview:

HKS is seeking a BIM Application Specialist to work directly with the Firmwide BIM Manager to lead the development and customization of BIM applications and plugins to support project design, management and delivery. The BIM Application Specialist will partner with Practice Technology and project teams to analyze current design and delivery workflows to identify opportunities for the development of custom applications and automated processes that enhance productivity, improve accuracy and increase the overall benefit of BIM.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development, maintenance and management of customized and proprietary applications for HKS' design and delivery workflows
  • Collaborate with practice technology and project teams to identify opportunities for the development of custom applications and automated processes that meet the evolving business needs of HKS
  • Collaborate on known issues, new emerging technologies and process improvements with Practice Technology and Firm Leadership
  • Integrate third party libraries and tools into HKS design and delivery workflows through Revit, BIM 360 and Forge APIs
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable source code
  • Manage and maintain HKS' public and private code repositories
  • Ensure stability of our HKS custom applications and plugins including software version and hardware related updates and modifications
  • Collaborate with BIM Platform Specialists and Information Technology Administrators on the deployment and management of HKS' custom applications and plugins
  • Work closely with our Practice Technology Leaders and project team leadership to assess the adoption and performance of HKS custom applications and plugins
  • Assist firmwide initiatives that increase the adoption of HKS custom applications and plugins
  • Create, maintain, and provide technical support documentation, end-user guidelines and educational materials and training for custom applications and plugins
  • Provide documentation and training material for HKS' custom applications and plugins to be incorporated into firmwide BIM Standards and training platforms
  • Understand and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices through involvement with firm leadership, BIM committees, and technology champions
  • Support the advancement of firmwide BIM practices and workflows

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in an Architecture, Interior Design or Construction related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience with Autodesk Revit and BIM Management
  • Expert Knowledge of and proven practical experience in AEC authoring and management applications including Autodesk (Revit, Navisworks Manage, BIM 360 and Forge), Rhino, Sketchup and their API interfaces
  • Proven Experience with Revit API consumptions and Revit plugin development
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills, design patterns
  • Solid understanding of legacy CAD applications and practices, particularly AutoCAD
  • Proficiency with programming languages including JS, node.js, Python, C#, and/or Visual Basic and Graphical Programming platforms including Dynamo and Grasshopper
  • Familiarity with design visualization applications including Autodesk 3D Max, Enscape, Lumion, Vray and Unreal Engine a plus
  • Familiarity with environmental analysis applications such as Sefaira, Insight360, Lady Bug/Honeybee, Fenestra Pro, WUFI, and IES a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated ability to deliver business change through the innovative use of data and technology
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, and transform research and business insights into innovative design and technology solutions
  • Evidence of strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to engage a range of audiences, stakeholders, and partners
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and under pressure of deadlines
  • Demonstrate a reliable, responsive and positive work ethic with the highest degree of integrity
  • Willingness to engage with teams firmwide to conduct research and/or deliver projects, travel may be required
  • Advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Computer Science preferred
