Job Description:

Seeking instructor to teach reading, writing, and math to adult students working towards their high school diploma. Class runs year-round (approx. 30 weeks per year of instruction, with breaks interspersed partially at the discretion of the instructor). May be combined with other on-campus instruction in the ABE/GED program to increase hours, as available.


Requirements:

  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Empathy for students with barriers and skills in building rapport
  • Teaching experience in reading, writing, and math
  • Experience with multi-level classrooms
  • Creativity in teaching in resource-constrained environments
  • Availability to attend monthly professional development sessions (generally, Monday afternoons)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of GED exam, especially GED 2014
  • Experience teaching adults and/or at-risk populations
  • K-12 teaching experience, especially elementary education


Additional Information:

Hours Per Week: Based on class schedule, maximum of 25 hours per week
Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 9 AM - 11:30 AM
