Overview
To direct and support programmatic activities within the Windy City Harvest Department

Duties and Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversee all programmatic aspects and dedicated staff of Windy City Harvest key program areas, including Harvest Corps, Youth Farm, Apprenticeship, and Short Courses.
  • Guide budget creation for all program areas and support budget tracking and communication.
  • Inform the creation of new programs and the evolution of existing programs to meet the evolving needs of Windy City Harvest participants, the food system, and the communities we serve.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with existing and emerging program, donor, and community partners.
  • Ensure clear, consistent communication and project management with internal Chicago Botanic Garden partnerships, particularly Development and Communications.
  • Represent the Chicago Botanic Garden in the media, at national and international conferences, and on local service boards.
  • Participate in Garden-wide strategic planning initiatives, as requested.
  • Support the operations director in other areas, as needed.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Minimum of 10 years supervisory and/or progressively responsible nonprofit management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, tracking, and reporting in a nonprofit setting.
  • Demonstrated experience building and sustaining positive and collaborative partnerships with diverse constituents.
  • Understanding and interest in promoting food, health, and jobs as a means to connect people in underserved communities with plants.
  • Prior experience with donor relationships and promoting an organization or program to a diverse audience.
  • A bachelor's degree

Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, listening, speaking, and keyboarding. Participate in conference calls. Use of office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Be able to work in all weather conditions during site visits.
