Job Description
The safety manager - concrete will assist in the overall supervision and administration of project safety. Establish accident prevention programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Emphasize and support proactive safety, coach and recognize workers on safe work methods, and report all incidents in an effective and timely manner following established protocols.The safety manager - concrete will report to the senior safety manager of operations. 

As safety manager - concrete you will:
  • Provide support to project staff in executing corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements.
  • Assist in the development and advancement of a safety culture on each project.
  • Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and through interface with project management/supervisory personnel. 
  • Assist in supervision and administration of safety/first aid and rescue activities.
  • Responsible for management of and adherence to safety operations.
  • Develop and conduct staff and craft safety orientation training program. 
  • Conduct daily documented jobsite safety inspections, work area surveillance inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage and personal injury investigations.
  • Document all accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities.
  • Identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents.
  • Issue confined space entry and "hot work" permits as required. 
  • Accompany safety, health and insurance inspections on walk through tours as required.
  • Keep current on new developments regarding safety laws, rules and regulations and also regarding protective safety equipment, materials and gear. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required. 
To be successful in this position, you will:
  • Four-year occupational safety/health degree plus minimum 3-4 years construction/industrial safety experience or equivalent combinations training and related experience.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and other state and federal agency guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company safety regulations required.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with company computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in high production environment (50+ hours/week, including weekends are expected) and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to make independent judgements to manage and facilitate company programs/policies as they relate to the safety of our work.
  • Required to stand, walk, sit and climb stairs or ladders.
  • OSHA 30 hour preferred. First Aid, CPR, AED Preferred.
  • Self-motivated.
