Lear Corporation is seeking a well-rounded team player to add to our ever-growing roster of production assemblers. Join our talented and versatile team in driving us towards greatness, in our state-of-the-art automotive facility in Hammond, IN.

At Lear Corporation, you will be building seats for the Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer for the Ford Chicago Assembly Plant. You can expect to work 10-12 hour shifts for at least 4 days/week. During each shift, you will be required to stand and work with your hands, nearly the whole time. Twenty-minute breaks (paid) are given at 8:00am/pm and 2:00am/pm. Lunch (unpaid) is taken at 11:00am/pm. You will be working on an assembly line on the SUB side of the Lear’s production floor, which is where the beginning of the seat-making process takes place. You may expect to rotate stations or jobs every few hours. By the end of your first 90 days, the expectation is that you may be trained on all jobs on your assembly line.

 

Success as a Production Assembler is measured through completion of the following core Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Set up and operate machines 
  • Load/unload machine (may be assisted by automation or ergo aids). 
  • Relief of fellow operators 
  • Operate manual material handling equipment to re-stock production areas with raw material or purchased parts. 
  • Move wheeled carts, racks, bins containing work in progress to adjacent production areas 
  • Eliminate routine errors, perform minor maintenance work. 
  • Participate in troubleshooting and solving any production related problems (e.g., machine breakdown, defects in purchased parts), and the continuous improvement process. 
  • Inspect product quality 
  • Disassemble scrap products, salvage material. 
  • Cleaning surrounding work areas 
  • May be assigned different duties depending on plant needs. 

 

Success as a Production Assembler is measured through the possession of the following Required Skills: 

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 45 lbs. 
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach or twist. 
  • Ability to frequently lift, transfer at waist height 30lbs 
  • Ability to stand and/or walk long periods of time. 
  • Must pass a one floor to waist lift of 65lbs. 
  • Must pass a full physical and lift test performed by company appointed physician
