The Global Nutrition Tracker Intern will assist on the 'Asset Tracker' project (see activities below). This project seeks to explore barriers and facilitators to scale up of Nutrition 'assets,' for women and children.

The goal of PATH's Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) Program is to apply effective, innovative approaches to broadening access to and use of key MNCHN interventions that address the most pressing causes of maternal, newborn and child deaths, and poor nutritional status. Our approach includes: an emphasis on community-level action; a focus on improving the quality of existing health services, improving preventive and curative care across the continuum of care from facility to community level; a commitment to reaching underserved communities; a focus on working to understand and address barriers to high-quality care; and mobilization of social and political support to create and sustain an enabling environment for service delivery of key evidence-based interventions. Where appropriate, the MNCHN Program strives to establish public-private partnerships to advance our goals.

Description of the learning objectives and goals of the internship:

To refine literature review and research skills, data skills, and develop team-building skills for working across international settings in global health. Intern will improve understanding of implementation of nutrition interventions globally.

Proposed activities and outcomes for the internship:

The Global Nutrition Tracker Intern will support the following activities on the Asset Tracker project:

• Literature review of barriers and facilitators to coverage of specified nutrition interventions in breastfeeding, feeding of small and sick newborns, treatment of wasting, and supplementation during pregnancy and lactation.
• Support data team in collecting, organizing, and extracting predefined indicators across data sources including household/facility surveys, routine health systems data, logistics management information systems, and policy/training documents

Benefit to intern:

Intern will gain experience working across settings in a fast-paced environment in the global health setting. Intern will gain in-depth understanding of the global nutrition interventions and better understand barriers and enablers for effective coverage.

How will performance be evaluated?

Intern will have frequent check-ins with the project team and will present on progress. Final evaluation will be provided at the end of the internship term

Description of skills and experience the intern should have:

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program (masters or PhD) in nutrition, monitoring and evaluation, global health, or public policy/administration. Global nutrition emphasis or experience highly preferred.
