The Power House and Maintenance skilled employees are responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on buildings, building equipment and mechanical equipment used in the facility. The work involves servicing, repairing and installing plumbing, doors/locks, electrical, heating systems, building interiors and exteriors, etc. Responsibilities also include maintaining and repairing a combination of gas-electric powered jitneys, tractors, and self-propelled yard cranes. Such duties may include disassembly repair and complete rebuilds of all units of the equipment and hoisting mechanisms, as well as, the performance of other miscellaneous repairs and adjustments. Candidate must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Six (6) years documented work experience in one (1) or a combination of the following trades: Mechanical Technician, Millwright or Electrician: or, a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate for Millwright or Electrician.
Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:
Work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as required
Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
Arc, acetylene and hydrogen weld
Properly move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
Properly use tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls, jacks, skids, slings, burning torches, and other types of portable and hand tools
Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
Locate, diagnose and repair trouble in electrical systems or equipment
Work from layout plans, blueprints, drawings or other specifications to determine work procedures
