Sony Electronics, a global leader in image sensors, is seeking an Image Sensor Characterization Intern to work on its next generation of novel image sensor designs and architectures in its Rochester, NY location.

This position is part of an advanced technology team which is enabling the next generation of imaging. The successful candidate will bring their knowledge and experience in hardware and software, as well as device physics and good communications skills to a dynamic and fast moving team working on the most advanced image sensor technologies.

This is an internship position. Responsibilities include: working with pixel, process, and simulation engineers to evaluate new pixel architectures over a variety of conditions; writing reports to feed analysis results back to team and management.

This position requires strong hardware skills to work with light sources, integrated circuited boards, and image sensors.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate & analyze image sensor image quality versus design parameters.
  • Work with designers to understand and debug image quality issues.
  • Develop image analysis tools and/or hardware setups for new designs
  • Write reports to feed evaluation results back to team members.

Requirements:

  • Working on B.S or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • Experience with characterization/measurement and analysis of CIS devices a plus.
  • Experience working with electrical and optical measurement equipment.
  • Experience with JMP or large dataset analysis tools a plus.
  • Experience with Excel Macros a plus.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Python a plus.
  • Understanding of semiconductor and/or optoelectronic device physics.
  • Understanding of semiconductor fab processing and process integration, and how these steps affect electrical and optical performance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, driven individual with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in U.S. without sponsorship.
