General Summary

Oversee the Corporate Compliance Program, functioning as an objective resource that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. Provide leadership and direction to compliance staff and serve as VSP Global chief compliance officer. Ensures the company is in compliance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations, company policies, procedures, and the company's operations.

Essential Functions

Implement all necessary actions to ensure the achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program.

Monitor and report results of the compliance efforts of the company and provide guidance for the senior management team on matters relating to compliance.

Develop, initiate, maintain, and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of the Regulatory Compliance Program.

Collaborate with other areas of the business to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.

Respond to alleged violations of law or regulations, policies, and procedures by coordinating compliance. Develop and oversee a system for uniform handling of such allegations.

Act as a review body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.

Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

Conduct administrative oversight in for the planning, managing, and evaluating VSP's Cultural and Linguistic Program to ensure ongoing compliance with state and federal requirements.

Assist in the development of the department budget and monitor unit expenses to ensure unit costs are within established levels.

Ensure effective communications are maintained within the unit and externally. Where appropriate, inform employees as to plans and progress. Conduct employee discussion sessions at regular intervals.

Monitor the performance of direct reports. Provide prompt and objective coaching and counseling. Conduct performance reviews and recommend salary increases.

Participate in the hiring and interviewing process for open positions within the unit ensuring that the most qualified candidates are selected.

Job Specifications

Typically has the following skills or abilities:

Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience, J.D preferred

Minimum of 12 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work, and managing performance of direct reports

Ability to interact effectively and problem solve with clients' compliance professionals

Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties

Proven expertise in regulatory compliance matters

Extensive knowledge of compliance integration into business processes

Proven ability to collaborate across all levels and lines of business

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills


Proven leadership and negotiating skills
