About the Organization:
The Federal Reserve System ("The Fed"), or the central bank of the United States, works to promote the effective operation of the U.S. economy through setting monetary policy, fostering financial stability, and serving communities. The Financial Support Office (FSO) is headquartered in the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, whose vision is public service that makes a difference to the region, the nation, and the world.
The FSO provides financial management leadership for The Fed. In collaboration with all twelve Federal Reserve Banks and the business and support areas they host, the FSO works to position the highest levels of The Fed's leadership to work in concert to achieve multi-year strategic spending alignment and spending stewardship (money is spent in the right place, in the right amount, and for the right value). The FSO is also responsible for introducing and reinforcing financial and technology disciplines and frameworks (such as rolling, strategy-driven forecasts), providing key inputs for payment system pricing decisions, and maintaining the technology roadmap for The Fed's portfolio of financial applications and centralized operations.
Job Summary:
The FSO intern is part of a small spend management analytics team dedicated to fleshing out the "story" of what happened, what is projected to happen, and what might happen, using defensible insights from varied data sources. Asking critical questions, the team forms hypotheses and substantiates insights with credible information (both qualitative and quantitative).
Responsibilities:
This position is required to ensure complete, high-quality delivery of various work products as directed and assigned. This position may be largely comprised of independent research on industry-leading practices that will culminate with a written report and internally delivered presentation. This position may also be assigned output that requires knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
