About the Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity to help the analytics team create and maintain the analytical databases on Azure and databricks. As part of this, the responsibilities will span the creation of data set processes for verification, acquisition, mining and modeling. In this multifaceted position, you will help drive business decisions by working with a variety of stakeholders including actuaries, data analysts, and engineers.

Our ideal candidate has experience working with large data sets, is proficient in SQL and Python, and has strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience with Python and SQL a must
  • Experience designing data solutions
  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • Passion for automation
  • Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Solid understanding of data analysis and reporting techniques
  • Building analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition
  • Able to optimize performance
  • Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies
  • Able to work independently and be self-directed
  • Health care industry and health claims data experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical and programming skills
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization.

Skills & Experience:

  • Related bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience in writing Python and T-SQL queries, stored procedures a must
  • Working with Data Analytics teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues
  • Experience managing databases
  • Knowledge of healthcare data coding systems and common administrative data formats
  • Extensive experience with database/reporting, including work with large, complex databases and process automation
  • Collaborative, team player mentality with a passion for using data to inform decisions
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize work assignments and meet productivity and quality standards
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work concurrently on diverse projects. Maintain high standards for accuracy, professionalism, productivity and confidentiality
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

Job Location

This position will be based out of the Milliman office in San Diego. Applicants can work remotely but may be required to visit the Milliman San Diego office periodically.
