This role will be an integral member of a global corporate economics department, working in a team based environment to support and promote the economics function at Abbott. The analyst will apply a working knowledge of economic and financial principles to understand the external environment and support ongoing business needs. The analyst is recognized for knowledge of economics, finance, and an understanding of how the theory applies in a business environment. WHAT YOU WILL DO: The analyst will work on a variety of projects that support Abbott's global businesses, focusing on industry and market analysis. Specific tasks may include: * Providing timely analysis of public and private data, including the analysis of underlying economic and industry trends for key markets. * Constructing and maintaining various economic indexes, managing department data, and maintaining the data infrastructure. * Performing statistical, financial, and econometric analysis. * Contributing research, analytics, and data visualization to department reports and communications WHAT YOU WILL BRING REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: A successful candidate possesses a bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or related analytical field, and MBA is preferred. The individual should demonstrate an understanding of economic theory and application. Econometric experience, either in EViews or a related modeling environment, is a plus. Prior work experience in an economic or financial modeling role is preferred. * A strong interest in economic and financial issues along with the curiosity and desire to develop their personal skill set * The ability to critically review and analyze external reports and data, and to summarize key information into clear and concise viewpoints * Experience working with economic and financial data from multiple data sources * Strong written skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts and themes to a general business audience * The ability to work independently on individual projects while contributing to the overall team as we collaborate on various reports, models and economic platforms WHAT WE OFFER: At Abbott, you can have a good job that can grow into a great career.
