Overview

Perform setup and assembly procedures of optical fiber components.

Responsibilities
    Prepare Component fiber by using mechanical strippers and cleave fiber using hand cleaver.
  • Splice optical fibers and components using a fusion splicer to existing assembly work instructions
  • Pack delicate components inside a coil bobbin
  • Use lasers and outboard equipment.
  • Measure basic splice characteristics and log data into a PC system
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed
  • Practice safe operating procedures
  • Keep work area clean, and promptly report all safety hazards
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Working knowledge: Soldering experience and PC skills desirable
  • Physical Demands: Exposure to and contact with fumes from solvents and acids, possibility of cuts from sharp tools, fibr slivers, burns from hot instruments and exposure to ultraviolet and laser light.
  • Extreme hand eye coordination and care required when working with optical fibers.
  • Extensive standing required.
