MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR- CarpenterAdditive / Powder Production

This is a rotating shift position. Currently working- 6 am to 4 pm for 2 weeks, then 12 pm to 10 pm next 2 weeks. Eventually moving to a 24/5 - 3 shift operations, rotating every 2 weeks. Candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts to be considere

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Supervisor provides production employees with guidance, direction and supervision. Supervisors are accountable for the performance of a shift, team or unit. They are responsible for the department's conformance to Carpenter's Operating Model to ensure the safe, quality flow of material through the department. They will maintain a positive work environment. Supervisors will work with others to drive process improvements, and their teams will achieve department goals and objectives through clear expectations and communications.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Take personal ownership for working safely and motivate others to maintain a safe work environment. Apply management expertise to improve efficiency and accomplish operational objectives within own area of responsibility or operating departments as defined by management. Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
  • Typically does not perform the work being supervised, but must be willing to be immersed in the process with the team. Supervises a minimum of two employees. Actively promotes all company policies and expectations. Supports the plant with overtime as required and willingness to work a rotating shift if required. Must be willing to embrace the Carpenter Operating Model.
  • Responsible for immediately directing actions that maintain safe, quality flow.
  • Perform Daily Gemba walks throughout plant area while following leader standard work to ensure discipline and adherence to safety and quality standards, 6S, as well as the overall operating system. This is done to ensure we sustain the gains implemented (safety standards, quality standards, standardized work, hour x hour boards, Daily Management, and problem-solving process) and drive improvement where opportunities are highlighted.
  • Performs other duties and specials projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two-year college degree preferred. High School Diploma required.
  • 4+ years in a leadership role within amanufacturing or operational environment.Preference given to candidates with metal powder work experience.
  • Must be capable of learning technical aspects of powder production and driving improvement actions that stem from these learnings.
  • Requires strong root cause problem solving capability.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Requires excellent written, verbal, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train, coach and develop others.
  • Requires strong safety awareness and process improvement abilities.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions, interpret personnel rules, laws, policies and plans.
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance in a fast-paced and ever-changing production environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and make appropriate decisions.
  • Willingness to escalate significant issues to plant leadership and STOP when unsure what actions need to be taken.
