Pharmacy Technician - Full-Time
Methodist Hospital - Northlake
Gary, IN


As a full-time, nonexempt,
CPS Pharmacy Technician at Methodist Hospital Northlake, you'll assist in various inpatient pharmacy activities, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and other duties requested by the pharmacist on duty not requiring the review of a pharmacist. The majority of tasks and responsibilities are directly related to interpreting, entering, preparing, dispensing, and distributing medications, while maintaining excellent customer service with patients at the counter and via telephone. You will assist with purchasing medications for the pharmacy and restock pharmacy shelves. You will perform job duties under minimal supervision within pharmacy standards, written procedures and guidelines, and state regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for the accurate completion of daily activities and the follow through of tasks to ensure completion.

Schedule: This position will work 40 hours per week on a varying day/evening scheduled. This position will also work every other weekend.

About the Facility: Methodist is a not-for-profit, community-based healthcare system. Methodist has two full-service campuses just 14 miles apart. Northlake is the urban campus in Gary while Southlake Campus in Merrillville is located near one of the Midwest's busiest retail areas. Combined campus bed capacity is 625 plus nurseries. Midlake Campus is the outpatient facility in Gary, conveniently located between the Northlake and Southlake campuses. CPS has partnered with the hospital to manage the day to day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS.

About the Pharmacy: This pharmacy will service discharged Methodist Hospital inpatients, Methodist Hospital outpatients and employees and will have an active 340B program, administer vaccinations, utilizes ePrescribe, performs patient chart reviews and medication therapy management, along with some compounding. The pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday 9a-7p and Saturdays 9a-3p; this may change based upon business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Recent experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy
  • IN Licensure/Registration/Certification requirements
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Effective communications skills; verbal and written

Hospital Requirements:

  • (Flu) Influenza-required for hire between Oct 1st-April 30th

  • COVID-19 Vaccination
