Position Summary | Provide friendly, courteous service to Library patrons and maintain Library circulation routines for resources and equipment in conjunction with established procedures. |

Essential Functions and Responsibilities | * Circulate library materials * Process new library patron records, issue library cards * Update and maintain patron records * Refer library users to Reference Librarians for research assistance * Assist users with photocopiers, library AV equipment, and computers * Assist users in locating Library resources * Maintain an orderly public services area by shelving, shelf-reading, shifting collections, cleaning, equipment maintenance, and moving furniture, as needed * Collect and record Library fines and fees for overdue and lost Library materials; apply personal restrictions in the ERP, where applicable * Collect money for printing and provide change for photocopiers * Answer telephone inquiries * Perform opening and closing procedures as scheduled * Make sure library is secure (as part of opening and closing procedures, and ongoing during hours of operation) and request assistance from Campus Security, whenever necessary * Prepare records, reports, and statistics related to circulation activities and public services on a regular, ongoing basis * Maintain an inventory of circulation, reserve, and interlibrary loan supplies and forms; initiate orders/order requests and replenish supplies * Process interlibrary loan requests in accordance with I-Share and interlibrary loan guidelines * Process Reserve Materials * Check in and maintain periodical holdings * Work in conjunction with student workers and library volunteers * Monitor the condition of library facilities and furnishings and report items that require attention to Executive Director of Library * Process patron holds * Assist with technical services projects (materials processing, deletions, etc.) * Participate in the library inventory process * Implement library policies and guidelines * Update library signage (including hours signs) and library literature, as needed * Create library displays * Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor |
Required Education | High School graduate or equivalent |
Other Required Qualifications | * High School diploma or equivalent * Two years related experience or Library Technical Assistant (LTA) certificate/degree * Previous work experience in a library setting preferred |
