Job Description

Description:

Run small lab mill for testing purposes

Run basic tests (Tack, Viscosity, Flow Water pick-up, etc.)

Assisting with customer service; provide support to local manufacturing and sales (QC, color matching, technical service, trouble-shooting, product recommendations)

Support & evaluate cost reducing initiatives: utilize new and more efficient raw materials; use up old inventory in batches; formulate with existing raw materials when possible

Selecting, calibrating, installing and maintaining lab equipment

Follow all work site rules for safety, waste, and chemical handling

Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

**Eventually this position will conduct the following:

Research & development of new products/ formulations

Improvement to present formulations

Working with customers for new product trials and field technical service

Report generation and distribution

Write standard operating procedures (SOPs) and test methods

Ability to design and direct laboratory experiments, interpret results and design follow-up experiments

Strong technical skills in ink formulation

Trouble-shooting experience on press and evaluating press sheets

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Essential Skills & Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or related field is Preferred OR experience equivalent

Satisfactory completion of Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Color Hue Test (or similar)

Demonstrated color matching skills

Basic knowledge of Inks

Knowledge of lab equipment operation

Understanding of printing processes and print application

Knowledge of raw materials

Proficient with Windows based software, including databases

Experience Level:
