Working with the Environmental Emergency Response (GHD FIRST) group as an Emergency Response Specialist based out of our Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, or Minnesota offices.
This position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Direct, manage, and grow spill response services in midwest and surrounding areas
- Develop partnerships with local/regional OSRO to provide support services such as: air monitoring; environmental sampling, documentation, and risk assessment; ICS management; SCAT; waste management, etc.
- Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets - Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards
- Coordinate small- to large-scale projects including maintenance of project schedules and budgets and coordination of project staff.
- Be available for after hours response to attend environmental emergencies to perform field tasks.
- Perform a wide variety of field duties for both routine/scheduled and emergency environmental projects to include: inspection, maintenance, monitoring, construction oversight, air monitoring, operating UAVs, and sampling efforts at the project site
- Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants of concern by following established procedures
What you will bring to the team:
- BS in Environmental Engineering or natural resource field (such as chemistry, biology, earth sciences, environmental sciences)
- Minimum 4 years of experience in preparedness spill response, management, assessment, and cleanup preferred
- Willingness to respond to call outs during non-routine working hours
- Ability to present technical information, both written and orally, in a concise and professional manner
- Ability to effectively communicate with other technical professionals, clients, and regulatory officials is a must
- Positive attitude, very strong interpersonal skills
- Experienced in emergency preparedness, air monitoring, environmental assessment/sampling, ICS, SCAT
- Self-starter, flexible team player, willing/able to work on a wide variety of tasks
- PHMSA and US Coast Guard experience and regulatory knowledge is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet project timelines
- Self-motivated and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must reside near our Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Kansa, Iowa, or Minnesota offices surrounding area
