1)Purpose and objective of the position:

This position will support process improvements and will lead activities to upgrade material integrity, consistency and potential for new applications.This position will also provide technical analyses of material performance and failure during processing and application.Communication as well as incorporation of this technical information into the process will be required of this position.

2)MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Provide expertise and leadership as related to brass and bronze metallurgy.

Preform project management for activities including cost reduction, equipment installations, customer opportunity investigation and resolution.

Develop technical documentation and training sessions related to materials produced and related metallurgical processes.

Provide technical leadership for all laboratory equipment and services including tests and procedures.

Manage metallographic sample preparation and microscopic analysis for microstructure and failure analysis.

3)KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

BS in Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent.

Project management ability

Foundry Experience preferred

Non Ferrous Metal experience preferred

3-5 years of metal testing standards and procedures

Demonstrated communication skills

Fluency in personal computers, work processing and spreadsheet software

Understanding and experience in team relationships

4)CONTACTS:

Customers: The customers for this position are the Laboratory Technicians, Casting Managers and Quality Managers.This position will also have interaction with all CXM Production, Maintenance, Customer Service and Sales Departments to provide support and assistance in problem resolution.

Suppliers:The suppliers for this position are the same as the customers listed above as well as outside venders whom we purchase raw materials (metal).

5)MAJOR CHALLENGES:

Understanding the metallurgy of brass and bronze.

Applying the metallurgy of brass and bronze in support of the Casting and Extrusion processes.

Applying the metallurgy of brass/bronze and understanding of material processing at CXM to customer applications.
