Job Description

SANITATION TECHNICIAN II

3RD SHIFT

GURNEE FACILITY

PAY RATE STARTING $15.25 PER HOUR PLUS $0.75 SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Breaking down, reassembling, cleaning and sanitizing manufacturing equipment nightly
  • Foaming and hand-scrubbing floors and walls
  • Cleaning of production and non-production areas in mostly indoor environment
  • Participating in pre-operation inspections of the equipment after the clean
  • Maintaining a Safe and Food Safe environment through teamwork and proper food sanitation training.
  • Overall sanitation of a USDA food plant
  • Utilizes all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's)
  • Must be able to balance on ladders and on top of platforms and equipment
  • Ability to use power tools to include pressure washer.
  • Performs a variety of duties while standing, lifting, walking or stooping/crouching
  • Adheres to and understands Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Exposure to potentially wet, hot, humid, cold and slippery conditions
  • Maintain commitment to personal development and participate in job specific training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years' sanitation experience (preferred)
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Two years' experience in a food manufacturing plant (preferred but not required)
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) reading, writing and speaking (preferred not required)
  • Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to work in temperature controlled environments associated with ovens, freezers and refrigerated warehouses.
  • Will be exposed to cold temperatures in the plant. Frequent walking and exposure to outdoor weather is required. The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and use hands or fingers to handle, feel or grasp.
  • Must be able to stand and bend for long periods of time.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; lift up to 50 lbs., and kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include overall vision, color vision, and depth perception.
