The Service Technician Apprentice, In-Home is responsible for supporting timely and quality repairs and/or checks of customers' products, while maintaining high customer service. This position promotes and sells additional products and services that directly impact the profitability of the Company. This position is responsible for being part of the repair and maintenance of products in the customer's home. The Service Tech Trainee is expected to successfully complete all training curriculum and progress to the role of a full Appliance Repair Technician or other career advancement position within 12 to 18 months of employment.
JOB SCOPE:
Responsible to meet District performance metrics by repairing and ensuring the performance of appliances by learning the specialties and skills that lead up to becoming a full appliance repair technician. This includes being able to assist as a helper tech, performance preventative maintenance checks, and also install parts as needed in customer's homes after successfully completing all New Hire Service Technician orientation & training segments for each of these profiles.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works as a dedicated team member to ensure fast, flexible, and expert service to every customer
Demonstrates a sense of urgency to meet customer time commitments
Completes all Technician training elements of each profile successfully within required time frames before moving to the next
Meets key performance metrics and productivity goals as defined by the business Provides knowledgeable and courteous repair service
Looks continuously for methods to improve business performance and enhance the customer experience
Offers and sells value added products and/or services during repair calls
Assists other Technicians as needed including helping on a repair, delivering parts, and conducting truck parts assortment inventories
Manages integrity of assigned truck stock parts assortment
Receives truck stock at home if the Company vehicle is retained at the Technician's place of residence or other designated locations
Maintains truck inventory within the prescribed Company guidelines and standards
Follows the truck maintenance schedule, and keeps a clean, organized truck
Drives to multiple customer homes daily to provide timely and quality repairs
Ability to learn the theory and skills necessary to accurately diagnose and repair appliances and equipment in the customer's home
Ability to communicate the diagnosis and needed repairs of products to the customer in a knowledgeable and courteous manner
Ability to select and use basic tools or instruments to assemble, adjust, calibrate, repair, or test various products; including knowledge of basic electrical principles
Ability to work variable and flexible hours, including required overtime
Ability to read, understand, and apply written text of a technical nature in order to answer questions, solve problems, and complete job tasks
Ability to communicate effectively with Sears associates, Vendors, Third Party customers, and other outside sources (i.e., Routing, Sears Technical Assistance Center (STAC))
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; Ability to read, write, and speak English
Ability to perform all services within manufacturer specifications and In-Home Technician Operating Policies including ability to read, understand, and navigate through information presented in diagram, blueprints, or other pictorial displays on the laptop computer
Ability to perform all procedures and work instructions according to Quality Management System (QMS) standards

Ability and/or willingness to offer and sell to the company s members value added products and/or services during repair calls

Ability to follow appropriate industry specific regulations related to the handling of hazardous materials
Ability to constantly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs (frequently lift, carry, push or pull 50 lbs; occasionally lift, carry, push or pull 100 lbs)
Ability to constantly reach outward, handle and finger objects, stand, walk, and sit Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb, and crawl
Ability to occasionally reach above shoulder and type using a keyboard
Ability to drive automatic transmission vehicle
