Job Description

Derivatives Operations provide operational support to Markets, Investor Services and Banking businesses across the CIB. Key product areas include Currencies, OTC Derivatives, Collateral Principal, Global Clearing, CASS & Outsourcing and Expense Management Unit with a global team of ~1500 colleagues. Services provided to our Businesses include:

  • Transaction Processing, Confirmation, Settlement and Clearing, Collateral Management, Client Service, Expense Management and CASS & Outsourcing Support
  • Typical daily activity includes settling in excess of $2TRN via FX trades, leading a Markets OTC portfolio of 3M trades, managing collateral balances in excess of $350BN and processing ~700K cleared and intermediary trades

Global Clearing Operations supports Clearing, Reconciliations, Middle Office, F&O House Ops, Expiries & Deliveries, Settlement, Brokerage, Client On-boarding, Client Money, Regulatory Reporting, Static Data Management and Position Management.

  • JPM is the 2nd largest Futures Commission Merchant based on Client Assets
  • Processes ~750,000 cleared and intermediated trades daily
  • Provides clearing at 62 global Clearing Houses
  • Settled USD equivalent 24.3Bn in physical deliveries Q1 2016

Job Description

Treasury Operations is responsible for projecting funding requirements in order to support the Global Clearing business and the Global Treasury team. The team is focused on meeting all Clearing House margin requirements through the use of both cash and non-cash collateral while balancing requests received from Client Service and Global Treasury.

This role will involve daily interaction with groups globally & locally as well as frequent interaction with technology and project delivery colleagues.

Summary of Responsibilities

Successful candidates must be highly analytical, control focused, able to work independently under strict deadlines with limited supervision, think strategically, as well as be responsible for the following:

  • Forecast funding needs in order to support trading activity.
  • Settle cash and collateral, taking into account market standard and Clearing House cut-offs.
  • Manage collateral and cash movements instructed by the Global Treasury Team and the Client Service Teams.
  • Participate in Project Working Groups to support new products and new markets.
  • Drive strategic agenda through partnership with technology as well as self-solve tools.
  • Prioritize competing requests in a fast paced environment.
  • Understand all Regulatory and Client Money controls impacting daily processes.
  • Reconciliation of cash and collateral positions and balances.
  • Daily Interaction with JPM Custody teams, Financial Control and Treasury services to resolve issues and process transactions.
  • Work with Treasury Operations teams in EMEA and APAC to provide global coverage

Skills and Qualifications

  • Treasury Operations experience a plus
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical, self-motivated, and enthusiastic with a great appetite to learn.
  • Forward-thinking, strategic individual willing to challenge existing processes
  • Strong relationship-building and good communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize work in a busy environment with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving and developing solutions.
  • Understand the risks and adhere to the controls in place at all times.
  • Experience in an operational/financial services/customer services environment advantageous but not essential.
  • Previous exposure to financial products and derivatives instruments advantageous but not essential.
