Location: New Lenox, IL

Program or Services: Community Day Services (CDS), New Lenox Woodworks

Schedule/Shift: M-F; 8am-4:30pm

Description:

Under the supervision of the CDS Program Coordinator, the Assistant Program Coordinator provides support to the program and to individuals who are developmentally disabled in such domains as personal care, recreation/ leisure and/or community awareness and integration. Adapts training materials so that they are functional and age appropriate, provides practical knowledge and instruction. Consults with the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) and Behavior Analyst in developing the techniques and procedures utilized. Prepares necessary individual client reports and program records. In addition, the person will be assisting in the building of woodworking items.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Program Coordinator position is responsible for working with their team to conduct curriculum, plan and participate in experiences with the people served in the community, facilitate group activities in the program, assist with ADL skills, coaching and mentoring staff and people served to maximize all abilities and outcomes. This ideal candidate will be flexible, patient, and willing to assist with a variety of tasks including keeping the building clean. This role has purview over helping support people, assisting to manage physical plant and administrative responsibilities.

In addition, the person will need to have basic knowledge of woodshop hand tools and power tools: creating quality parts, assemblies, and finishes. Sanding, polishing, staining, painting, cutting sawing, measuring, drilling, assembling, and delivering of items. Organization of workflow and supplies to completion. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a social service or human service field. Interested candidates must have excellent organizational skills plus the ability to effectively establish priorities. A qualified candidate should have some knowledge of applicable standards and regulations as they apply to Community Day Service (CDS) programs. Wood Shop Helper/Carpentry Assistant with a woodworking background.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year or more of managerial experience and one year or more of experience working with people who have intellectual disabilities.
