Position

Thatcher Technology Group (TTG) is seeking a creative and curiousTechnical Writerto join our team. As our Technical Writer, you will bring your experience making complex and challenging ideas engaging and informative to varied audiences (end users, admins, developers, etc.).

Our ideal candidate may have past experience with teaching, curriculum development, journalism, technical or marketing writing, or even creative writing.

This position will be required to produce high-quality, coherent technical documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products and applications.

This position is NOT REMOTE. You will be expected to be in the Naperville, IL office each work day.


As a Technical Writer at TTG, you will....

* Help develop a smart content strategy, looking for new and better ways to get our users the information they need when and where they need it.

* Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content while working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.

* Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, process documentation, and release notes.

* Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards.

* Develops content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.

* Convert development team work into customer release notes.

* Develop a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required.

* Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension.

* Prepares or commissions graphics and illustrations to elaborate on or complement technical writing.

* Collaborates with translators, as necessary, to convert writing into different languages.

* Works with sales and marketing colleagues to ensure that the finished documentation meets product requirements.

* Creates, adapts, and follows project schedules and deadlines.


Qualifications

* 2-4 years of technical writing for software development experience

* Proficient in publishing software and programs such as Microsoft word, Confluence, help makers, wiki, Microsoft Visio

* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

* Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development

* Superior English skills with extensive knowledge of the rules of composition and English grammar

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

Pay: $71,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
