We are actively looking to add a government underwriter (DE and/or DE LAPP/SAR) to join our team.
Role: DE / DE LAPP/SAR Underwriter
Location: Las Vegas, NV - open to remote employees
Company: We are a regional mortgage lender - been in business for 15+ years and currently licensed in 25 states.

What You Will Be Doing
Reviews, examines and underwrites loans to ensure soundness, business value and compliance with MNET and Investor Guidelines
Assesses loan attributes and documentation for soundness and accuracy
Reviews and evaluates data to ascertain loan viability and identify risk issues and potential fraud
Evaluates Debt to income Ratio, Loan to Value ratios, credit score property valuation and other factors
Determines and documents loan conditions and communicating requirements and / or decisions
Assists in identifying, recommending and / or negotiating alternative loan requirements, funding and / or loan structure solutions
Provides input on new and / or existing Underwriting processes, procedures and / or approaches
Independently conducts full and comprehensive evaluations of a variety of complex mortgage loan applications
Applies specialized knowledge in the interpretation of loan and underwriting criteria and the determination of underwriting decisions and final courses of action
Identifies and recommends alternative financing solutions
Assesses underwriting program effectiveness and provides input for improvement
Coaches processors, junior underwriters and loan officers on technical underwriting issues, problems and or questions
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in addressing critical business matters that have a significant financial impact
Responds to Quality Control reports as requested by Senior Management
Continuing education through company and / or industry sponsored classes or seminars
Ability to underwrite 2-3 loans per day.
What You Need for this Position
Prior Work Experience
4+ years of underwriting experience required.
Direct Endorsement Underwriter Chums # required and minimum of 1 years current active experience required.
Education Experience
High school degree required. College degree preferred.
Technical Experience
Ability to underwrite 2-3 loans per day in applicable work timelines required.
Full Conventional, USDA and Housing Agency designations required.
FHA DE underwriting designations required.
Understanding of legal, regulatory, economic, competitive and technological environments which potentially affect real estate lending programs required.
Expertise in multiple underwriting specializations required.
Extensive understanding of processing, underwriting, and compliance procedures required.
Extensive understanding of underwriting systems and their interdependencies required.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Advanced analytical skills required.
Ability to manage competing priorities with ease required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Strong computer and internet proficiency required. Knowledge of or the ability to learn in-house loan origination system required.
