Job Description

Job Overview

The Sr. Manager, Accounting is the leader of the accounting and finance function for Komatsu Finance. The senior manager will act as a business partner for the operations team, with a focus on driving process improvements, implementing best practices and providing financial information to key stakeholders to assist in making business decisions. The senior manager also leads the budget and forecasting process, including the communication of results to leadership of both Komatsu America and Komatsu Limited. This role has high visibility throughout the organization.

Manages an accounting team of two employees and supports an operational team of 40+ employees.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with operations to identify and drive process improvements, resolve business challenges, evaluate and report on profitability of product offerings, drive harmonization of IT systems, and provide other financial information to key stakeholders to assist in making business decisions.
  • Own and drive the budgeting and forecasting process, including the communication of results to the Komatsu leadership teams.
  • Own the day to day accounting for Komatsu Finance, including the establishment of accounting policy and procedure where required.
  • Review and approve financial statements and supporting schedules for management reporting.
  • Supervise, mentor and coach the team.
  • Research and apply technical accounting guidance for unique business transactions.
  • Own and manage the Komatsu Finance internal and external audit process.
  • Proactively work with the global accounting team to ensure consistency in application of accounting practices, including the implementation and ongoing management of CECL.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience with exposure to the financial services industry.
  • Ability to work without constant direction and communicate with and understand non-accounting focused individuals and processes.
  • Experience overseeing, mentoring, and developing a team.
  • Experience managing a departmental budget.
  • Experience performing accounting research and in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Strong critical thinking and intuitive problem-solving skills. Healthy professional skepticism and inquisitiveness. Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Prior experience with Info Lease and SAP a plus.
  • Effective communication and project management skills.
  • Committed to meeting established deadlines.
