Our location in Lake Forest, IL, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst within Core Diagnostics.

The Senior Financial Analyst role is responsible for providing financial support and counsel to divisional senior financial and executive management in the following specific activities: Financial Planning and Analysis, Management Financial Reporting, and TM1 system maintenance. Comprehensively work and assist with all aspects of the global Core Diagnostics (Core Dx) Division's Financial Planning processes aligned with Abbott Corporate and Core Dx business requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Responsible for financial planning, reporting and analysis. Prepares financial plans and forecasts based on performance expectations. Gathers and publishes financial information related to historical, current and future performance. Performs financial analysis utilizing appropriate financial concepts and techniques. Recommends alternative courses of action.

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures

  • Assist in the planning process to provide an efficient and effective tool for senior management and ensure that planning requirements and expected outcomes are achieved.

  • Develop and orchestrate the planning timeline, calendar, and process. Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval. Initiates or maintains work schedule. Establishes priorities of work assignments.

  • Manage and coordinate with senior staff the preparation of the management presentation and related backup/analysis. The presentation, backup, and analysis must be comprehensive and include the assessment of all data and assumptions used in the planning development for reasonableness and the degree of achievability of these forecasts.

  • Prepare and distribute financial reports and packages by gathering and analyzing information related to current performance.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and integrity of TM1 data for all Plan and Last Best Estimates (LBEs).

  • Prepare in-depth evaluations of plans and identify new methods of analysis and presentation.

  • Prepare various management presentations, relevant data, financial analyses, special projects and related consultation to senior divisional management in planning and achieving short and long term financial objectives.

  • Prepare monthly analysis around Actual sales results for management dashboards.

  • Brainstorm, propose solutions and enhancements to orchestrate process improvements.

  • Develop detailed process documentation to ensure continuity of process knowledge.

  • Complete ad hoc analysis, reviews or reports within Divisions and Corporate functions as necessary.

  • Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.

  • Works under minimal supervision. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Master's Degree, CPA, or auditing experience with a major regional and/or Big 4 public accounting firm is also a plus

  • 4 years minimum experience in financial planning and analysis

Preferred

  • Knowledge and application of financial concepts, procedures, and practices.

  • Working experience with TM1 or other large systems a must (SAP or Cognos databases).

  • Apply professional concepts following company policies and procedures to solve routine problems and exercise independent decision making.

  • Candidates must have strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact across various levels of finance personnel, including senior financial management.

  • Candidates must be able to manage multiple tasks and work in a dynamic environment.
