Job Description

What you will accomplish together with us

  • Drive the integration of multiple unit operation models to form end-to-end dynamic simulation capabilities
  • Develop and implement robust large-scale simulation strategies for combining multi-frequency and hybrid model types
  • Evaluate various commercial and open source dynamic modeling architectures (gPROMS, Julia, python, ...)
  • Build and test research grade proof of concept simulation packages demonstrating the concept, strengths, weaknesses and use cases of various system level modeling approaches
  • Monitor and evaluate developments in bioprocess modeling research
  • Collaborate within Corporate Research and work with relevant research laboratory teams to run experiments to generate data for model calibration.
  • Develop proof-of-concept (PoC) tools which can be passed on to commercial software development team.

What will convince us

  • M.Sc./Ph.D. in chemical engineering, physics or other relevant modeling background required
  • Experience in deploying large scale system level dynamic simulation models required
  • Fluent in scripting languages, e.g. Python for execution of data science studies required
  • 5+ years of practical experience in system modeling for process simulation required
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and remotely
  • Excellent knowledge of linear algebra and calculus required
  • Exposure to software product development, delivery practices, and related tools preferred
  • Experience with machine-learning frameworks, i.e. Tensorflow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, etc. preferred
  • Ability to develop prototype software for real-time simulation and control applications
  • Strong background in physics-based modeling
  • Interest in cloud and distributed computing models
