Position Summary

Dual Credit Instructors teach college courses at the high school, covering college content at a rigorous level, allowing students to earn both high school and college credit. All dual credit courses shall be equivalent in course content, rigor, student learning outcomes, syllabi components, and assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes as courses offered at the College.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Participate in training provided by the College in course curriculum, assessment methods, and administrative requirements.
  • Submit a copy of the course syllabus to the College before the first day of class for each section taught.
  • Deliver instruction using College’s course content and learning objectives.
  • Provide a copy of the course syllabus to each student enrolled in the dual credit course.
  • Ensure accurate course rosters.
  • Complete timely enrollment verification, midterm grading, and final grading in the College’s system.
  • Schedule course observations with the assigned Observer.
  • Maintain communication with the College and Career Readiness department, Faculty Liaison, and high school administrators.

Required Qualifications

  • Employment in local school system required. 
  • Dual Credit Instructors shall meet any of the faculty credential standards allowed by the Higher Learning Commission to determine minimally qualified faculty.
  • Complete MCC's background check process
  • Provide I9 documentation to McHenry County College's HR office, in person, upon hire - not required to apply. 

For baccalaureate transfer courses (PCS 1.1):
Master’s degree in the course content area, or Master’s degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the course content area.
 
For career and technical education courses (PCS 1.2):
Bachelor’s degree in the course content area and/or a combination of education, training and tested experience with 2000 hours of industry experience.
